When we work too much, we can expect to burn out.
We hear a lot about time management but not enough about energy management. We can structure our time, but things can get pretty complicated if we don't know how much energy we're spending on our business.
We need to create a balance between our energy and the time we spend completing tasks.
Most Pilates teachers think we have to do more to be more effective.
Those increased demands are sustainable in the short term but take away our energy over time. We then have less patience, less time for ourselves, and less time for our families and the equation tips into an unfavourable area.
You are also more likely to get sick and increase your medical costs. All those crazy hours working on balance do not make much sense. You are probably going to be very unhappy.
The critical issue here is that time is a finite resource. Whereas if we can get our energy balance, this resource is unlimited!
Choose activities that help to sustain you and keep you positive and inspired. The things that keep giving you the energy always to do the best you can
Think about the activities, people and tasks that deplete your energy.
Have a journal handy or a piece of paper. Write down the things in your business or life that suck your energy. What are the things that you dislike doing? Be honest with yourself.
Now make a second list of all the things that give you energy. What makes you feel alive?
Now figure out what solutions you can put in place to reduce the energy-depleting people, behaviours, activities or tasks.
Please remember, some people would love to do the things you don’t want to do.
In the end, these same people will save you so much time and money because you can focus on what you love doing and have the energy to do it.
